Nigel is a specialist employment and industrial relations lawyer. He advises on all aspects of employment and industrial relations law, including the Fair Work Act 2009 and commencement and termination of employment issues (including unfair dismissals and general protections claims, and drafting executive and employment agreements), discrimination claims, and transfer of business and related due diligence issues. Nigel also has significant experience in advising on enterprise bargaining and enterprise agreements, workplace health and safety issues, including first response incident management and post-incident legal and strategic advice. Nigel's clients include large and medium-sized corporates, public companies, small and family businesses as well as human resource managers across numerous industries.
His clients come from a wide range of industries including manufacturing, heavy industry, wholesale and retail financial services, property building and construction, franchising and distribution, sport, hospitality, education and religious orders. His most recent experience has seen him advising clients in the application of the Fair Work Act including how modern awards apply, claims for breaches of the Fair Work Act and anti-discrimination legislation, strategic industrial relations advice, first response to serious workplace incidents, general mergers and acquisitions, and transactions in the private equity sector.
Nigel regularly appears before Fair Work Australia, the Federal Courts, the Anti-discrimination Commission (ADCQ), and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).
