Areas of expertise
Matthew advises on the acquisition, sale and leasing of commercial property and businesses, particularly for hotels and clubs. His clients include taverns, hotels, clubs, restaurants, property developers and commercial business owners. Matthew has experience in drafting and negotiating a range of sale contracts for the acquisition and disposal of assets, put and call options, agreements for lease and leases in a manner that maximises results for his clients.
Matthew has also developed niche expertise in liquor and gaming licensing issues, including applications for new site licences, extended hours, detached bottleshops, management agreements and compliance/disciplinary matters. He has been successful in obtaining approval for many complex licensing arrangements and has developed a successful and respected model for preparing community impact statements to accompany new liquor and gaming licence applications. His experience in a range of complex matters allows him to continually deliver results to his clients in an efficient manner, helping to ensure that a strong commercial outcome is achieved.
In addition, Matthew also advises sporting associations and individuals on a range of sports law related issues, including governance, membership, disciplinary procedures and contracts.
