Curt is the Managing Partner of the firm and also leads our Property and Hospitality Practice.
Curt was appointed as Managing Partner on 3 August 2015 and has been with the firm for more than 20 years. As Managing Partner, he is ultimately responsible for the satisfaction of our clients and our employees.
Curt's major role is to lead the firm with business strategies to ensure the Firm's growth and stability.
With over 30 years' experience in Property, Liquor and Gaming law, Curt is recognised as a leader in this field. He advises pub, club, nightclub, restaurant, resort and accommodation venue owners and operators on the strategic and technical aspects of their business operations and freehold ownerships.
This includes advice to property developers and owners about assets, which include licensed premises.
Curt's expertise includes acquisitions and sales, site acquisitions, all forms of liquor licensing and gaming applications, management agreements, and establishment of new licensed venues for greenfield sites. His clients include a major supermarket chain for which he undertakes all their Queensland and New South Wales hotel acquisitions. His work includes all compliance issues relating to licensed venues, including accessing employment law advice.
Curt also acts regularly for sellers, buyers and owners of accommodation hotels and other accommodation venues.
Curt works closely with government regulators in the liquor and gaming sector, and has advised on the amendments to the Queensland liquor and gaming laws. He is also a key adviser to peak industry bodies, such as the Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) and Clubs Queensland, including preparing industry submissions.
Curt is a regular contributor to industry publications including a monthly column in the "QHA Review" and regularly in the "AHA Review". He also writes articles for "Clubs Insight" and "Queensland Bowler". Curt is a popular speaker at industry conferences on developments in gaming, liquor and responsible service.
Curt spent 10 years on a weekly radio talkback with the ABC in Brisbane providing free legal advice to the community.
